OUTDOOR: Entered the shot put seven times...reset personal best when she finished third at the CSUN Invitational with a toss of 39-8...entered the discus on seven occasions...reset personal best with a throw of 140-2 at the University of California Brutus Hamilton Invitational...placed 12th in the discus at the Big West Championship...named Academic All-Conference.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
2021 (FRESHMAN)
OUTDOOR: Reset her personal best in the discus almost 20 feet when she recorded of 137-3 with her first throw of the Big West Championship preliminaries May 15...the effort just fell short and she did not advance to the finals and would place 13th overall...season-best finish in the discus was third which she recorded at the Mar. 24 Cal Poly Spring Break Challenge and again at the Apr. 23 Matador Invitational...posted season-bests in the shot put when she finished fourth with a toss of 33-10 3/4 at the Matador Invitational.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2020 graduate of San Diego High School…coach at SDHS was Tamara McMillian…high school team won league titles from 2016-19…competed for the Flo-Jo International Club from 2013-19…won the discus (129-1 1/2) and finished second in the shot put (37-0 1/4) at the 2019 USATF San Diego-Imperial Associate Junior Olympic Championships…was second in the discus (116-2) and third in the shot put (a person best 37-11 1/2) at the 2019 USATF Region 15 Junior Olympic Championships…named second team All-Conference and All-Academic in basketball…basketball team won league title in 2020.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Anthony Mitchell and Leslynn Nelson…an Art major...favorites include the Toronto Raptors, Florence Griffin-Joyner, Wesley Snipes, Eartha Kitt, Marilyn Monroe, Grown-Ish, Black AF, the Blade Trilogy, Mac & Cheese, Panic! at the Disco, Kevin Gates, and Nina Simone…chose CSUN for her academic program and its location to her home…says the best thing about being an athlete is the travel…says the worst thing about being an athlete is missing out on important things due to competing…the most famous person she has met is the recording artist Mel-B…the best advice she has been given is don’t compare yourself to others…her greatest hero is her mother because she raised four children all by herself and was able to keep us on the “straight and narrow” as her mother was successful able to get all of her children into college.
