2022 All-Big West Freshman Team
2022 (FRESHMAN): Named The Big West Men's Soccer Freshman of the Year and to the All-Big West Freshman team...became the first Matador to be named Big West Freshman of the Year since 2005 (Kevin Guppy) and the fourth CSUN men's soccer player to be selected for the honor...tied for second on the squad in assists (3) with Jamar Ricketts...tied for third on the team in goals (2) with Levin Gerhardt and Enrique Pineda...tied for third on the Matadors in points (7) with Dylan Gonzalez.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2022 graduate of Birmingham Charter High School…selected 2022 Los Angeles Daily News Player of the Year as he reset school record for most goals in a season with 33 as a senior...added 19 assists in 2022...named 2021 Los Angeles Daily News Player of the Year after scoring 22 goals and recording 16 assists in 20 matches…led team to 2021 City Section Division I and a runner-up showing in the Southern California Regional Championship…scored 17 goals as a freshman in 2019…team made three City final appearances (2019, 2021, 2022) and won two titles (2019, 2021)…team advanced to 2022 SoCal Regional semifinals…served as the kicker for Birmingham’s football team…CLUB EXPERIENCE: A member of the LAFC Academy and played for CV Fuego.
PERSONAL: Son of Jose and Rosa Diaz…Favorites include Braca, Tom Cruise, Top Gun, Pasta, and Kanye West…chose CSUN because of the coaching staff…says greatest sports moment so far is setting his high school’s career goals record…says the best thing about being an athlete is the traveling…says the toughest thing about being an athlete is the mental side of the game…the person in history he would like to meet and switch places with is Lionel Messi…says the best advice he has been given is to keep it personal…his advice to young people is have fun but learn to manage your time…says his greatest hero is his dad because he brought him to the United States for a better life.
