2022 (FRESHMAN): Was selected Big West Conference Softball Freshman of the Week on Feb. 21 after striking out 18 in 15 innings as opponents batted .182 against her during her three appearances in the San Diego State Campbell/Cartier Classic...struck out a season high 12 (the most by a CSUN pitcher in a game in three seasons) against Southern Utah on Feb. 18...earned the award for the second time on Mar. 7 after posting a three-hitter against Sacred Heart and a two-hitter against California Baptist...was second on the team in wins with eight (8-10) and innings pitched (110.1)...appeared in 26 games, starting 21 times...recorded seven complete games and three shutouts...finished regular season 52nd in Division I in walks allowed per seven innings (1.40)...earned Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2021 graduate of Diamond Bar High School…selected honorable mention All-League and team Rookie of the Year as a freshman...chosen first-team All-League and as a Top 50 pitcher in the San Gabriel Valley Southern Section as a sophomore after leading the Hacienda League in strikeouts with 106...went 5-1 during her abbreviated 2020 junior season for the Brahmas…struck out 33 in nine appearances in the circle as a junior…a four-time school Scholar-Athlete selection...CLUB EXPERIENCE: played for the California Thunder.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Eddie Martinez and Mary Chavez…stepfather is Daniel Chavez…a criminology & justice studies major…favorites include the Los Angeles Dodgers, Clayton Kershaw, Will Smith, Emma Stone, Greys Anatomy, The Pursuit of Happiness, Fettuccine Alfredo, Florida Georgia Line, and Drake…chose to go to CSUN because of the beautiful campus and amazing Criminal Justice Program…she was also impressed with what the coaching staff had in store for her and loved her coaching style…also felt like was and liked how the coaching staff was big on academics…says the best thing about being an athlete is having the ability to be an inspiration to younger athletes…says the toughest thing about begin an athlete is having good time management and maintaining the balance between school and sports…the most person she has met is the late Kobe Bryant…the person in history she would like to meet most in Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr…if she could have dinner with two people it would be Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Kevin Hart…her greatest hero is her (step)father Daniel who she says that she pushes her to be the best she can be and has supported her throughout her entire softball career and her life…she says she always makes her laugh and does whatever he can make all of her games, practice, and softball lessons…she says that he has always taught her right from wrong and makes sure that she has turned into the person she has become…she says that he always has a smile on his face and is always loud and in the best mood no matter what is going on…finally, she says she hasn’t missed a game or anything that she has ever done for softball or school, so she says she aspires to be like him some day.
