Amaris Smith appeared in 28 of 29 matches and 108 of 116 sets in her first season at CSUN after transferring from Long Island University ... led the Matadors with 383 kills while averaging 3.55 kills per set, which ranked sixth in the Big West ... hit .193 for the season on a team-high 1,209 swings ... also ranked third on the team with 49 total blocks (0.45 bps) and was fifth on the team with 170 digs (1.57 dps) ... served 12 aces while also posting 23 assists on the season ... had CSUN's four top match kill totals of the season including a season-high 29 kills in CSUN's five-set win over San Diego State (Aug. 31) ... also hit a season-high .439 on 57 attacks against the Aztecs ... her 29 kills is tied for sixth for a single match in CSUN history ... took a season-high 71 swings against San Francisco (Sept. 6) which is tied for third in program history for a single match ... reached double figures in kills a team-leading 19 times ... notched five double-doubles on the season, highlighted by a 23 kill-12 dig performance against San Francisco (Sept. 6) ... had 20 or more kills six times in 28 matches ... posted 20 kills and a single hitting error on 49 swings to hit .388 in CSUN's 3-2 win over Portland (Sept. 20) ... served a season-high three aces in the Matadors' five-set win over UC Riverside (Nov. 16) ... was named Big West Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 2.
LONG ISLAND - 2022-23
Smith spent two seasons (2022, 2023) at Long Island University in Long Island, NY ... appeared in 31 matches as a sophomore in 2023 ... posted 303 kills which ranked second in the Northeast Conference ... also recorded 171 digs, and 35 service aces to earn first-team All-NEC accolades ... was named NEC Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2022 ... also earned NEC Prime Performer three times in 2023 and five times in 2022 ... in the classroom, earned NEC All-Academic honors in both 2022 and 2023.
DOUGLAS COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL
Smith earned four letters in volleyball at Douglas County High School in Castle Rock, Colo. ... was named first-team All-Continental Conference and All-State honorable mention as a senior for the Huskies in 2021 ... earned second-team all-conference accolades in both 2018 and 2019 and was awarded Scholar-Athlete honors as a senior in 2022 ... graduated in 2022.
