ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - Rebecca Bostrom is off to another good start as the CSUN sophomore is in the lead at one-under 72 and the Matadors are second through 18 holes at the Cal Poly Invitational.
The tournament, at Cypress Ridge G.C., concludes with 18 holes on Sunday.
"The team did a great job managing the course today," said CSUN head coach Gina Umeck. "They all seemed very comfortable out there. This course offers some elevation changes and the team did a great job of pulling the right club."
Bostrom was the only golfer in the 71-player field to finish round one under par. She will carry a one-stroke lead over a trio of players into Sunday's final round.
Elsewhere, Elisabeth Haavardsholm is right in the thick of things as she is tied for fifth at one-over 74. Cesilie Hagen is tied for 18th at five-over 78, Arinda Bhanaraksa is tied for 31st at seven-over 80 amd Shenna DeLeon is tied for 43rd at 12-over 85.
As a team, the Matadors are just four shots behind team-leading Northern Arizona (300) and two shots in front of Santa Clara (306). 13 teams are in the field.
"I think we are gaining versatility as a team which is a big part of scoring," added Umeck.
