Final Round 315 Lands Matadors in Third Place at Fresno State Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - Cesilie Hagen and Arinda Bhanaraksa each posted a final round 75 to keep the CSUN women's golf team in third place at the conclusion of the Fresno State Classic Tuesday at San Joaquin Country Club.
After posting season-low rounds of 304 and 299 on Monday, the Matadors carded a team round of 315 on Tuesday but had enough of a lead over fourth-place Sacramento State to hang on to third in the five-team field.
Hagen, who was tied for sixth after rounds 75-74 Monday, fired another three- over-par 75 on Tuesday to move up into fifth at eight-over 224. The sophomore's 54-hole total of 224 was 16 shots better than the 240 she posted in the season-opening Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate and her first top-10 finish of the season.
Bhanaraksa also finished in the top-10 for the first time this season as she also finished with a final round 75 to finish with rounds of three straight rounds at three-over. Her final round score jumped her from ninth into a tie for sixth at nine-over 225.
The remainder of the squad struggled on Tuesday as Shenna DeLeon carded an 81 and Elisabeth Haavardsholm and Sharon Shin each carded an 84.
Haavardsholm, who was tied for ninth after two rounds, wound up tied for 17th at 18-over 234 after posting rounds of 76-74-84. DeLeon completed her first collegiate tournament at 19-over 235 following rounds of 78-76-81 and Shin posted rounds of 82-78-84 to finish tied for 22nd at 28-over 244.
CSUN returns to play Oct. 20-21 when the Matadors travel to San Jose to compete in the Santa Clara Colby Classic.
