Matadors Seven Shots Back at Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Senior Michael O'Connor fired a three-under 69 and is tied for sixth while the CSUN men's golf team is fourth after the opening round of the Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational at Sunbrook G.C.
As a team, CSUN finished round one at even-par 288 trailing only College of Charleston (285), Utah State (284) and team-leading Utah Valley (281).
"I can't be upset that we shot even par but we did leave some shots out there," said Matador head coach Jim Bracken. "Michael was happy with his round, he hit the ball really well but he also felt like he left a shot or two on the course."
I'm hoping for a good round tomorrow, it's there for us," added Bracken.
Sam Engel is bidding for his first top-20 finish as the sophomore is he is tied for 20th at even-par 72. Steven Molumby overcame a rough start to finish the first round tied for 29th at one-over 73. Aden Louez is tied for 38th at two-over 74 and Tim Snyder is tied for 71st at eight-over 80.
The Matadors also traveled several individuals as Conrad White is tied for 38th (74), Dodge Ward is tied for 44th (75) and Joey Varnam is tied for 67th (79).
The final round of 18 holes is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
