NORTHRIDGE, CA - The CSUN men's golf team carded its low round for 18 holes Saturday as the Matadors moved to 21st at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic at Ka'anapali Golf Course.
CSUN's team round of 286 was one shot better than its previous season low of 287 set last week at the Pacific Invitational. Despite the solid round, the Matadors, who opened the day 22nd,  only moved up one spot on the team leaderboard.
"The weather was better today than yesterday, we just had a hard time finishing our round which was frustrating," said CSUN head coach Jim Bracken. "We're capable of shooting under par, the signs are all there."Â
In a field chalk full of ranked teams and ranked players, junior Felix Mory fired a second round three-under 68 to move into the top 20. Mory was one-over after five holes but was four-under the rest of the round to finish three-under for the day and one-under for the tournament.
Mory, currently tied for 18th at 141, will begin the final round just seven shots behind the leader Greyson Sigg of Georgia (133).
"Although he played well Felix wasn't super excited about his round today, he knows he could have played better," added Bracken. "I think Felix and the rest of the guys are looking forward to a good final round tomorrow."
Sophomore Tomas Skajem finished Saturday at two-over 72 which moved him up three spots to 59th at five-over 147. Trym Falch posted a six-shot improvement from round one to round two as he is currently tied for 89th at eight-over 150.
Tavit Garabedian bounced back from a rough Friday with a three-over 74 on Saturday to move up to 115th at 14-over 156 and Sam Engel is tied for 126th at 20-over 162 (80-82).
Teams will tee off the final round with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
