CSUN 19th After Opening Round of Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate
2/19/2016 6:50:00 PM | Men's Golf
NORTHRIDGE, CA - The CSUN men's golf team got off to a rocky start Friday in round one of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at The Classic Club in Palm Desert.
As a team, the Matadors posted a round of 310 and are tied for 19th among the 20 competing teams.
"We really finished poorly today," said head coach Jim Bracken. "Our course management was fine, it came down to execution. We just hit too many bad shots."
Although CSUN has a lot of ground to make up over the next two rounds, the Matadors are only 12 strokes out of the top-10.
"There's six or seven teams within reach so I'd like to make up some ground tomorrow and finish strong," added Bracken. "If we play decent golf the next two rounds we can certainly move up."
Senior Tim Snyder leads CSUN as he is tied for 29th at two-over 74. The remainder of the squad is way down the leaderboard as Felix Mory and Sam Engel are tied for 75th at six-over 78, Tavit Garabedian is tied for 92nd at eight-over 80 and Luis Calderon is tied for 101st at 10-over 82. Conrad White is also competing as an individual and is in 113th-place at 13-over 85.
The second of three rounds is scheduled for Saturday morning.
