NORTHRIDGE, CA - The CSUN men's golf team opened the spring portion of the 2015-16 season with a 14th place finish Tuesday at the LMU Invitational in Lake Las Vegas, NV.
In chilly conditions at Reflection Bay Golf Club, the Matadors posted team rounds of 305-306-313 to finish with a tournament total of 924.Â
Senior Tim Snyder posted his second top-20 finish of the season after placing 12th with rounds of 70-68-79. Snyder's one over-par 217 was his 54-hole low for the season.Â
"We simply didn't play well or execute in our first tournament of the spring," Tim played well but I wanted to see what some of the other guys could do in a tournament setting. For some of the guys it was their first tournament and they pressed a little but I'm expecting better things as we move on this spring."
Sam Engel, playing as an individual, tied for 38th at 10-over 226 after posting rounds of 76-74-76. No other CSUN golfer was in the top 50 as Felix Mory finished tied for 59th at 17-over 233 (77-78-78), Tomas Skajem finished 75th at 27-over 243 (79-78-86) while Tavit Garabedian and Luis Calderon finished in a tie for 76th at 28-over 244. Garabedian posted rounds of 83-82-79 while Calderon finished with scores of 79-88-77.
CSUN returns to the course Feb. 19 as the Matadors travel to Palm Desert to take part in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at The Classic Club.
