CSUN Finishes Seventh at Matador Invitational

SIMI VALLEY, CA - The CSUN women's golf team posted a final round 316 and finished seventh at the Matador Invitatonal Tuesday at Wood Ranch Golf Club.
With far less wind than Monday's first two rounds, scores were lower across the board as Santa Clara claimed the team title and Morehead State's Anna Magnussun won individual medalist honors after a card-off with USC's Amy Lee.
Cake Phuchanbanchob led the Matadors as the freshman tied for ninth at 23-over 239. Phuchanbanchob was in second after an opening round 77 but slipped to ninth following rounds of 82 and 80 but still was able to post her third top-10 finish of the season.
Cesilie Hagen finished in the top 20 for the third time this season as the CSUN junior tied for 15th at 25-over 241 after posting scores of 79-83-79.
Elsewhere for the Matadors, freshman Ysabel Tran carded a final round six-over 78 to move up 10 spots from 36th to 26th at 32-over 248. Arinda Bhanaraksa also moved up on the final day, posting a seven-over 79 to finish in a tie for 37th at 36-over 252. Shenna DeLeon rounded out the CSUN lineup finishing 56th at 51-over 267 after posting scores of 94-86-87.
CSUN also played a pair of individuals as Julie Ward finished 52nd at 46-over 262 (90-83-89) and Chaiwon Youn was 54th at 48-over 264 (94-86-87).
