CSUN Posts 15th Place Finish at Bruin Wave Invitational

NORTHRIDGE, CA - The CSUN women's golf team wrapped up play at the Bruin Wave Invitational Tuesday at San Luis Obispo Country Club. As a team, the Matadors finished 15th at 955 while senior Arinda Bhanaraksa finished a team-best 46th.
The Matadors carded team rounds of 329-302 on Monday before closing with a 324 on Tuesday. The 16-team field included eight squads ranked among the top 31 in collegiate golf. Sixth-ranked UCLA won the team title while the Bruins' Louise Ridderstrom claimed individual medalist honors.
"We proved some things this week, posting a better round than even Stanford yesterday," said CSUN head coach Gina Umeck. "We have a long way to go but have taken the first step."
Bhanaraksa, who opened the day tied for 26th, carded a final four 12-over 84 to drop into a tie for 46th at 19-over 235.
Shenna DeLeon tied for 63rd at 23-over 239 after rounds of 81-77-81, Cake Phuchanbanchob tied for 73rd at 28-over 244 folllowing rounds of 84-79-81 and Cesilie Hagen was 79th at 34-over 250 (87-82-81).
Freshman Ysabel Tran was disqualified following the second round for signing an incorrect scorecard following round one.
The Matadors will be back in action Mar. 21-22 as CSUN heads to the State Capitol to play in the Sacramento State Invitational at Sierra View Country Club.
