NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN women's basketball team hosts a pair of games this week.

CSUN hosts Weber State Thursday night. Tip is set for 7 p.m. Thursday's game is part of the Faculty Staff Series and will begin a Toy Drive that will support the Northridge Hospital Foundation, a Dignity Health Member.Â

Fans that bring a new unwrapped toy to the games at the Matadome between Nov. 30 and Dec. 18 will receive two complimentary tickets to the game.

The Wildcats improved to 4-1 last Saturday with a 79-55 victory at home over Incarnate Word. Weber State has won three in a row prior to entering the Matadome. Weber State's leading scorer is Larryn Brooks who is averaging 18.4 points per game. Briana Gray is second on the squad in scoring (9.8) and leads the team in rebounding (6.2).

This is the 15th time that CSUN and Weber State are playing women's basketball. The Matadors lead the all-time series 8-6. CSUN defeated the Wildcats 86-76 last season in the first meeting between the two clubs since 2001 when both were members of the Big Sky Conference.

Saturday's game against Fresno State is slated for a 2 p.m. start. In addition to the Toy Drive, kids get in for free (up to three) when two adult tickets are purchased if every member of the family is wearing CSUN gear.
Fresno State dropped to 1-4 on the year after losing a pair of games at UT Arlington (67-54) and Texas State (76-59) over Thanksgiving weekend.Â

The Bulldogs are led by Kristina Cavey who is averaging 14.0 points per game. Candice White is scoring 13.0 points per game and leads the team in rebounding (5.2 rpg). Fresno State is at UC Santa Barbara Thursday night before heading to Northridge.

This is the 21st time in which CSUN is facing Fresno State. Fresno State leads the all-time series 16-5. The Matadors defeated the Bulldogs 61-57 last season in Fresno.Â

CSUN (1-5) defeated Arizona 66-63 in the third-place game of the Warner Center Marriott Thanksgiving Basketball Classic last Saturday night to break a five-game losing streak. Serafina Maulupe scored a game-high 20 points and averaged 17.5 points per game for the tournament to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team. Saturday's victory marked the first time since Dec. 1, 1978 that CSUN defeated Arizona in women's basketball.
