NORTHRIDGE, CA - A second round 312 dropped the CSUN men's golf team two spots to 16th place Monday at the Bandon Dunes Championship at Old MacDonald Golf Course in Bandon, OR.
The Matadors were 14th after posting an opening round 296 on Sunday but struggled in the changing conditions on Monday.
"Today was a little colder and windier than yesterday but it's the same conditions for all the teams," said CSUN head coach Jim Bracken. "Today it was a combination of poor execution and missing shots, overall we just didn't play well. Hopefully we can put this round behind us and finish strong tomorrow and pass a team or two."
Junior Felix Mory was the only CSUN player to nearly duplicate his round one score as he followed up Sunday's 72 with a one-over 73. Mory had an eagle and three birdies on his way to a 73 and is tied for 21st at one-over 145 heading into Tuesday's final round.
Senior Sam Engel and junior Trym Falch both carded second round 79's as Engel slipped from a tie for 18th into a tie for 53rd at six-over 150 (71-79). Falch, tied for 64th after an opening round 76, is now tied for 75th at 11-over 155.
Tomas Skajem is currently tied for 86th at 15-over 159 (78-81) and Tavit Garabedian is 89th at 16-over 160 (77-83).
Oregon maintained its team lead from the opening round as the Ducks (560) pushed their lead to 10 shots over Texas Tech. Individually Hannes Ronneblad of Texas Tech maintained a one stroke lead over Ryan Gronlund of Oregon.
