NORTHRIDGE, CA - The CSUN men's golf team fired a final round 292 to move up three spots on the leaderboard at the conclusion of the Bandon Dunes Championship Tuesday at the Old MacDonald Golf Course in Bandon, OR.
The Matadors opened the tournament with a team round of 296 before slipping to 15th following a second round 312. By carding its best round of the tournament Tuesday, CSUN was able to pass three teams into 13th place at 36-over 900.
"Obviously we played much better than we did yesterday, this is how we're capable of playing," said head coach Jim Bracken. "I put a challenge to the boys that we're not finishing last and they stepped and we passed three teams so it was a good day in that respect."

Engel fired a three-under 69 on Tuesday, which matched his low for 18 holes this season, as he finished tied for 26th at three-over 219. He wound up posting one eagle and four birdies as he wound up posting rounds of 71-79-69.
