NORTHRIDGE, Calif. --- The CSUN women's basketball team (18-13) faces Long Beach State Friday, Mar. 10 in a Big West Conference Tournament Semifinal 2:30 p.m. at the Honda Center. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 and Mark Roberts will be calling all the action on CSUN Sports Network. On Wednesday, Mar. 8, the Matadors posted a 71-64 victory over Hawai'i in a Big West Conference Tournament Quarterfinal in Long Beach at the Walter Pyramid. Sophomore Channon Fluker, the 2016-17 Big West Conference Player of the Year, scored a career-high 39 points and added 12 rebounds for her league-leading 20th double-double of the season. In the process, she set a new school record for points in a season and also set new program marks for rebounds and field goals in a season during the course of the year. Â
Junior Tessa Boagni came off the bench to record her fourth double-double of the year with 13 points and a team-high 13 rebounds and Eliza Matthews, the Big West Freshman of the Year, added 11 rebounds in the win. The Matadors overcame a halftime deficit by shooting 52 percent from the field in the second half and committing just five turnovers after the first quarter.Â
Turnovers figure to be a key statistic in Friday's contest. The 49ers, the second seed in the tournament, force opponents into over 20 miscues per contest. In a win over the Matadors on Mar. 2, Long Beach State scored 29 points off 24 CSUN turnovers. They also forced 27 turnovers in a loss to CSUN at The Matadome on Feb. 2.

Sophomore Channon Fluker scored a career-high 39 points and set a new program record for points in a single season as the CSUN women's basketball team (18-13) defeated Hawai'i 71-64 Wednesday evening in a Big West Tournament Quarterfinal at the Walter Pyramid. Tessa Boagni added 13 points and 13 rebounds off the bench and CSUN erased a six-point halftime deficit to advance to Friday's semifinal at the Honda Center.Â
The 2016-17 Big West Player of the Year, Fluker had a dominating game inside for CSUN. She finished 14-of-23 from the field and added 12 rebounds for her 20th double-double of the season. Midway through the third quarter, she passed Ashlee Guay to set a new school record for points in a season and currently has 560 on the season for an average of 18.1 per game. This year, she has set new single-season program records for points, field goals and rebounds.Â
Boagni had a strong game off the bench, producing her fourth double-double of the season and sixth of her career. She finished 5-of-10 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Big West Freshman of the Year Eliza Matthews was the third Matador in double-figures in rebounds, grabbing 11 boards to go with two assists.Â
All-Big West Conference Honors
CSUN women's basketball sophomore Channon Fluker has been named the 2016-17 Big West Conference Player of the Year while rookie Eliza Matthews was named Big West Freshman of the Year and junior Serafina Maulupe earned Second Team All-Big West honors, the league office announced Monday morning. Fluker became the second Matador in school history to be win the conference's top award and earned her second-straight First Team All-Big West award. Matthews led all rookies in rebounds and averaged just under five points for the year while Maulupe ranked among the league's top scorers and 3-point threats.Â
