SOMIS, Calif. - Monday's second round of the Waves Challenge was suspended due to darkness, leaving the CSUNÂ men's golf team 12th after an opening round 325.
In warm and extremely windy conditions at Saticoy Country Club, not one of the 15 participating teams finished below par.
"The entire field got some bad breaks, the conditions were just really tough out there today," said Bracken. "You've got to stay mentally tough and grind it out on a day like this, no excuses for us but it was tough for the entire field."
Senior Felix Mory paced the Matadors who have six holes to complete in the second round when play resumes Tuesday morning.
Mory was tied for third (currently tied for 12th) after posting a three-over 75 on round one. Mory was four-over after a bogey four at No. 13 but rebounded with birdies on three of his final five holes to get back to three-over.
Trym Falch was tied for 43rd after an opening round 10-over 82 followed by Luis Calderon who was tied for 49th at 11-over 83. Falch and Calderon are currently tied for 58th with five holes remaining in round two.
Jason McGuinness had a rough start and rough finish to his opening round, finishing at 13-over 85. Staring on the fifth hole, McGuinness had a triple bogey eight on his second hole before posting eight pars and one birdie over his next nine holes before finish at 13-over for the round. With six holes remaining in round two, McGuinness sits at four-over which has moved him into a tie for 47th.Â
Gabriel Barnes was a shot back of McGuinness at 14-over 86 after round one and is currently tied for 66th place.
As a team, CSUN carded a 325 in round one. The host Pepperdine Waves led the field at 297.
