Matadors Finish 16th at Bruin Wave Invitational

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The CSUN women's golf team posted its best team round of the tournament with a final round 323 but could not move up from 16th place at the conclusion of the Bruin Wave Invitational Tuesday at San Luis Obispo Country Club.
The Matadors posted team rounds of 324-329-323 to finish with a total of 976 over three rounds.
Senior Shenna DeLeon fired a final round six over-par 78 and was CSUN's low scorer for the first time this season. DeLeon, who began the day tied for 60th, had one birdie and 10 pars on Tuesday to move up into a tie for 55th at 25-over 241.Â
Sophomore Brooke Hamilton, who led the Matadors over the first two rounds, finished with a final round 84 which dropped her from 45th into a tie for 60th place at 27-over 243. Hamilton wound up the tournament with rounds of 78-81-84.
Sophomore Alice Duan, the Matadors' low scorer in four of their first five tournaments this season, finished tied for 69th at 30-over 246 following rounds of 80-83-83. Sophomore Brianna Steger tied for 78th at at 34-over 250 (84-84-82) and freshman Ashley Phelps finished tied for 81st at 37-over 253 (84-89-80).
CSUN next plays at the Sacramento State Invitational, March 19-20 at Sierra View G.C. in Roseville, Calif.
