NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2018 outdoor campaign Mar. 10 by hosting the CSUN All-Comers Meet. There were no team scores.

MEN'S RECAP
Michael Merchan won the mile run in a time of 4:22.42. James Atwell took home top honors in the 3000m (8:59.21). CSUN was 1-2-3-4 in the 3000m as Manuel Vargus (9:05.14), James Silva (9:08.52), and Christopher Pinelo (9:10.20) followed.

The Matadors went 1-2-3 in the discus with Daniel Swarbrick leading the way as he won the event with a toss of 160-1. Armon Hunter (156-9) was second followed by Christopher Brown (146-8).

Swarbrick doubled up as he won the hammer throw by recording a 183-4 performance. Brown was second in the hammer (174-9).

Joshua Turner won the long jump with a leap of 21-4. Mark Nicholas was victorious in the pole vault as he cleared a height of 150-9.

WOMEN'S RECAP
Kayla Pickens took home top honors in the 100m by running a time of 12:95.

Katie Alvarenga was the winner in the mile (5:23.73). Teammate Jasmine Vasquez was the runner-up (5:24.66) in the event. Vasquez came back later in the meet to win the 3000m in a time of 10:27.73.

Gardenia Centanaro (11-2 1/2) and Kelsi Dunne (10-2 3/4) posted a 1-2 performance in the pole vault for the Matadors.

Sydney Berry (39-3 1/4) and Ty Wallace (38-3 1/4) came home 1-2 in the triple jump for CSUN.
Brandy Williams won the shot put by posting a toss of 51-5 1/2.
