Matadors Tied for Eighth After Two Rounds at GCU Invitational

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Senior Felix Mory is tied for seventh while the CSUN men's golf team is tied for eighth-place after two rounds of the GCU Invitational Friday at the Grand Canyon Championship Golf Course.
The Matadors posted team rounds of 289-290 and are eighth in the 14-team field at 579. CSUN's 579 is its low for 36 holes in eight tournaments this season. Missouri leads the team competition at 557 heading into Saturday's final round.
Mory carded rounds of 71-69 and is one of three players tied for seventh at two-under 140. Mory's 140 through 36 holes matches his second lowest of the season as he is just two shots off the lead.
Trym Falch rebounded from a series of rough tournaments to fire a two-over 144 (70-74), his lowest 36-hole total of the season. Falch is tied for 22nd and is seeking his first top-20 finish of the season. Jason McGuinness, competing as an individual, also posted his best two-round total of the season as he is tied with Falch at 144 (76-68). McGuinness' second round 68 is the second lowest round by a CSUN player following Mory's 66.
Luis Calderon also had a solid day one, finishing at four-over 146 following rounds of 73-73. Calderon begins the final round in a tie for 36th place. Joey Varnam and Michael Zhang rounded out the CSUN lineup with Varnam tied for 71st at 10-over 152 (78-74) and Zhang tied for 75th at 12-over 154 (75-79).
