NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—Big West men's soccer play continues this week for CSUN as the Matadors take to the pitch for a pair of matches.

CSUN hosts Sacramento State Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Hornets went 0-1-1 in week one of Big West play for a 5-6-2 overall record. Sacramento State fell 2-0 to UC Santa Barbara last Wednesday before coming back late in regulation to tie UC Irvine 2-2 last Saturday.

Oscar Govea is tops on the squad in goals (3), assists (4), and points (10). Ryan Curtis has recorded two shutouts, tying him with two others for the fifth-most in the Big West Conference. Fellow goalie, Hector Grajeda is 10th in the conference in saves with 12. This the 24th meeting between the two clubs with CSUN leading the all-time series 14-8-1.

The Mustangs dropped a pair of 1-0 decisions to UC Davis and UC Riverside during the opening week of conference play. Cal Poly is 4-6-1 overall.

Emmanuel Perez is tied for second in the Big West with Daniel Trejo in goals scored with seven. Perez is tied with two others for fourth in the league in points (16). Carlos Arce-Hurtado has made 22 saves, the eighth-most in the conference while recording two shutouts which is tied with two others for fifth-most in the Big West. This the 59th meeting between the two clubs with CSUN leading the all-time series 31-17-10.

CSUN head coach Terry Davila won his 200th career match Oct. 9, 2019, when the Matadors defeated No. 22/24 Cal State Fullerton 1-0. In his 21st season, Davila is 200-158-52. Davila has become the 47th active Division I coach with at least 200 career victories and he is the 157th Division I head coach with at least 200 wins.

He became the all-time winningest coach in Matadors' men's soccer history Oct. 13, 2018, when CSUN defeated Cal Poly 1-0. Davila broke the old mark of 192 that was set by his college coach, Marwan Ass'ad who served as the Matador mentor from 1983-98 (192-102-26).

The Matadors fell to 6-5-1 overall, 1-1 in Big West play when CSUN lost 1-0 to UC Davis last Saturday. The lone goal of the match came on an Aggies' penalty kick in the 73rd minute. The Matadors played the final 51 minutes a man down after Giovanni Aguilar was issued a red card.
