Matadors 13th After Opening Round in Hawai'i

KAPOLEI, Hawai'i - The Matador women's golf team posted an opening-round 320 Tuesday and are in 13th-place at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational at Kapolei Golf Course.
Kiran Sangha and Ashley Phelps are CSUN's two low scorers after 18 holes as Sangha is tied for 52nd and Phelps is one shot back in a tie for 55th.

Sam Houston State is the team leader after one round at one-over 289, two shots better than Sacramento State. A total of 14 teams are competing in the tournament.

- Sangha, who was two-over after nine holes, carded four birdies on the day but also had three double bogeys on her way to an opening-round six-over 78.
- Phelps had three birdies along with seven pars in posting a seven-over 79. Â
- Senior Brianna Steger is another shot back after finishing at eight-over 80, good for a tie for 61st.
- Freshman Grace Bettis and sophomore Julia Johansson each had a single birdie on the day as each are currently tied for 72nd at 11-over 83.
