CSUN Closes Rainbow Wahine Invitational With Season-Best 296

KAPOLEI, Hawai'i - The CSUN Women's Golf team carded its low round of the season Wednesday, posting a final round 296 to finish 12th at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational at Kapolei Golf Course.
After Monday's opening-round 320, the Matadors posted a second-round 299 on Tuesday before shaving off three more strokes with a season-best total of eight-over 296 in the final round.
Sophomore Kiran Sangha finished as CSUN's low scorer for the second time in three fall tournaments, finishing in a tie for 40th at 11-over 227. Senior Brianna Steger carded the Matadors' low round of the tournament Wednesday with a final-round even-par 72.

Sacramento State (863) posted a team round of three-under 285 in the final round to overtake BYU (866) and Cal Poly (863) to claim the team championship among the 14 teams competing. Individually, Sacramento State's Tess Blair took home individual medalist honors after a final round 66 gave her a five-shot win at nine-under 207.

- Sangha, who carded three birdies and nine pars on Wednesday, was one-over after her opening nine holes before finishing two-over on the back to finish the day at three-over 75 and the tournament at 11-over 227.
- Steger made the biggest move in the final round, moving up 15 spots with a final-round even-par 72. Steger, who had five birdies on the day, was two-under through 16 holes before bogeys on her final two holes dropped her to even-par for the round and 13-over 229 for the tournament.
- Sophomore Julia Johansson had three birdies and 10 pars on her way to second straight round of two-over 74 which moved her up eight spots into a tie for 53rd at 15-over 231.
- Junior Ashley Phelps posted a final round eight-over 80 to slip into a tie for 57th at 17-over 233 (79-74-80).
- Freshman Grace Bettis rounded out the CSUN scoring as she fired her best round of the tournament Wednesday with a final-round three-over 75. Bettis finished the tournament tied for 63rd at 19-over 235.
