Matadors 12th After Two Rounds of Bruin Wave Invitational

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The CSUN women's golf team posted team scores of 319-318 on Monday and is in 12th-place after two rounds of the Bruin Wave Invitational at San Luis Obispo Country Club.

The Matadors take a team score of 637 into Tuesday's final round, 17 strokes out of the top-10. No. 2 USC holds the team lead at 582, three shots better than Northwestern (585). Kelly Sim of Northwestern holds the indivudual lead at eight-under 136 after tying a tournament record with a five-under 67 in round one.

Brianna Steger is the low Matador after two rounds at nine-over 153. Steger is tied for 29th while Kiran Sangha is in the top-40 at 12-over 156.

CSUN SCORES

Steger had a pair of birdies in posting an opening-round 77 before adding three more birdies in round two. The CSUN senior was one-over after nine holes in round two before a birdie at No. 2 moved her to even-par for the round. but four bogeys over her final seven holes dropped her to four-over for the round and nine-over for the tournament.
Sangha posted one birdie and 12 pars in an opening-round 76 before slipping to an eight-over 80 in round two.
Grace Bettis opened with a 10-over 82 before posting a three-shot improvement in round two with a 79. Bettis is currently tied for 53rd at 17-over 161.
Ashley Phelps is currently 59th at 23-over 167 following rounds of 84-83 and Araceli Esquivel is 61st at 38-over 182 following rounds of 88-94.

The Matadors will be paired with Pepperdine and Washington State for Tuesday's final round which gets underway off the 10th tee at with tee times starting at 8:25 a.m.
