Second Round 302 Drops Matadors to 19th in Hawai'i

LIHUE, Hawai'i - Freshman Tomas Heglo fired an even-par 72 but the CSUN Men's Golf team finished with a score of 302 which dropped them one spot to 19th after 36 holes of the John Burns Intercollegiate Friday at Wailua Golf Course.
Helgo, who began the day tied for 76th, was two-under through six holes before a triple bogey on the par-4 2nd hole dropped him to one-over for the day. Birdies at No. 8 and No. 9 moved him back under par before a bogey at No. 11 left him even for the day and four-over for the tournament.Â
Michael Zhang is CSUN's low player through two rounds as he is tied for 58th at three-over 147. Zhang had three birdies over his two-over 74 on Friday. Helgo is one shot back at four-over 148.
Paul-Louis Gachet, who began the day tied with Zhang in 42nd place, carded a five-over 77 on Friday and is currently tied for 82nd at six-over 150. Gabriel Barnes is tied for 91st at eight-over 152 after posting a second round three-over 75. Ryan Hoffenberg is tied for 99th at 11-over 155 (76-79) and Luis Calderon is tied for 111th at 15-over 159 (79-80).
No. 11 Arizona State moved past first round team leading BYU as the Sun Devils (558) lead No. 2 Duke (560) by two shots.Â
The Matadors will be paired with Washington State, UC Irvine and Hawai'i for Saturday's final round which gets underway at 8 a.m. local time.
