IRVINE, Calif -- The No. 21 ranked CSUN women's water polo team finished the Barbara Kalbus Invitational by dropping its final match against No. 25 San Diego State, 11-4.
Nine different players scored goals for the Aztecs in the contest, while Tori Wilson, Kylee Jansen and McKenzie Beardsley scored for the Matadors.
In the first quarter, after an initial goal for SDSU out of the gates, Wilson notched another goal on the season to tie the game up at one. A defensive bout to begin with, only three goals were scored in the first quarter between the teams. The Aztecs led by one through the first period at 2-1.
Kylee Jansen scored in the second but it would be the only Matador goal as SDSU would score four more times to make it a 6-2 game after the first half.
Jansen scored the lone goal for the Matadors in the third, while also shining on the defensive end by only allowing a goal itself
A Beardsley goal cut the lead to three at 7-4, but San Diego State would tally four unanswered goals to make it 11-4 and that score would stand.
UP NEXT:
The Matadors will travel to Bloomington, Indiana to participate in the Indiana Classic. The first game will be against Wagner University, Saturday Mar. 2 at 8:20 a.m. PST.
