CSUN-SANTA CLARA
SJSU RESUMPTION
- CSUN and San José State resumed play with CSUN defeating the Spartans 12-1 in the morning.
- The game was picked up with the Matadors leading 5-0 with two outs in the top of the second. CSUN completed the second by scoring an additional run.
- CSUN poured it on in the third, plating six runs to go up 12-0. Highlighting the rally was a Jessica Alexander double with the bases loaded that cleared the bases.
- Jillian James struck out nine in four innings before giving way to Cheyenne Noli in the fifth.
- Noli issued two walks and a SJSU hit to load the bases before hitting Jacey Phipps to allow the lone Spartans' run. Noli induced a game-ending 4-6-3 double play on the next batter.
- Alexander drove in four runs to pace the Matadors. Kira Cauley was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Mackenzie Babbit was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

- CSUN capped off the week with a 6-3 victory over Santa Clara that went eight innings.
- Megan Stevens put the Matadors into the lead with a two-run home run in the top of the first. Raquel Jaime added an RBI single later in the first.

- "We played two good teams today. I liked how we kept pressure on and stayed aggressive in the San Jose state game. We didn't get comfortable and waited to get settled in against Santa Clara. We didn't play our best softball but we scored early and battled til the end. I'm proud of the team for gutting it out."
- CSUN (11-12)
- San José State (10-9)
- Santa Clara (4-12)
- CSUN hosts a tournament next weekend with Loyola Marymount. Play begins Friday against Dartmouth at 12:15 p.m.
