NORTHRIDGE, Calif.-The final push towards the Big West Conference women's basketball tournament begins this week as CSUN hosts the final two games of the regular season against UC Irvine and Hawai'i.

The Matadors (15-13) begin the week tied for second in the Big West Conference with UC Riverside (15-13) as both teams have a 9-5 conference record. The second place team in the Big West will receive a double bye in the Big West Tournament while the third place team gets a bye into the second round into the tournament.

The Anteaters are fifth in the Big West to start the week with a 7-7 record. UCI is 17-9 overall after getting off to an 11-2 start. Jordan Sanders is second in the conference in scoring at 20.4 points per game. Sanders is second in free throws (101-125), fourth in free throw shooting (80.8), fifth in rebounding (7.8), and eighth in field goal shooting (47.3),

Eric Kaback will have the pregame show on the CSUN Sports Network presented by Dignity Health beginning at 6:50 p.m. Tip is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday is a Pack The Dome night as well as a Youth Team Day.Â

Hawai'i begins the week in fourth place in the Big West with an 8-6 mark. The Rainbow Wahine are 12-15 overall. Makenna Woolfork is the top Hawai'i scorer at 10.7 points per game and rebounder at 5.2 per game.

Kevin Strauss will have the pregame show on the CSUN Sports Network presented by Dignity Health beginning at 3:50 p.m. Saturday's action gets underway at 4 p.m. The CSUN senior class will be honored as will first responders that attend the game.

CSUN went 1-1 last week, dropping a 63-51 decision to UC Riverside Feb. 28. Channon Fluker recorded her 73rd career double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Serafina Maulupe posted 10 points against the Highlanders.

The six points that the Matadors allowed to the Mustangs in the third quarter was the ninth time this season that CSUN has allowed six or fewer points in a quarter this season. Destiny Brooks was 5-for-5 from the floor, 4-of-4 from three point range to score 14 points. Fluker tallied 14 points and seven rebounds. Maulupe charted 12 points and seven rebounds.
