Matadors Post Two-Round Total of 608 at Fresno State Classic

FRESNO, Calif, - The CSUN Women's Golf team is in 13th place at the Fresno State Classic after opening with team rounds of 302 and 306 Monday at Copper River Country Club.
The Matadors (608) were 10th after posting a first round 302 but slipped three spots on the team leaderboard after a second round 306. CSUN is just seven shots out of the top-10 heading into Tuesday's final round. UC Davis is the team leader through 36 holes as the Aggies fired a team total of six-under 570.
Senior Michelle Duan was the low Matador player on Monday as she is tied for 25th at four-over 148. Duan had three birdies as she opened with a one-over round of 73. She then added four more birdies in round two but also had a pair of double bogeys on her way to a three-over 75.
Fellow senior Kayla Yn is two shots back of Duan at six-over 150. Yn was consistent with consecutive rounds of three-over 75 as she had four birdies over the first 36 holes. Also for the Matadors, freshman Kiran Sangha is tied for 56th at 11-over 155 following rounds of 75-80, Ashley Phelps is tied for 65th at 13-over 157 after posting scores of 80-77 and Brianna Steger is tied for 67th at 14-over 158 following rounds of 79-79.
CSUN also has Araceli Esquivel competing as an individual and the newcomer is tied for 65th at 13-over 157 after rounds of 78-79.
In addition to holding the team lead, UC Davis also has the individual leader through two rounds as Christine Danielsson has a one-shot lead at four-under 140.
The Matadors will be paired with South Dakota for the final round which gets underway Tuesday at 8:45 a.m.
