CSUN Fires School Record 8-under 276, Moves Into 2nd at MSU SoCal Spring Invitational

CAMARILLO, Calif. - The CSUN Women's Golf team shattered the school record for 18 holes, carding an 8-under 276 to move into second place through 36 holes of the MSU SoCal Spring Invitational Classic on Monday at Sterling Hills Golf Club.
The Matadors opened with a team round of 21-over 305 on Sunday, then carded four eagles and 19 birdies en route to an 8-under 276 on Monday. At 8-under 276, CSUN breaks the previous record set by the 2014 CSUN team that carded a 4-under 284 at the Matador Invitational. On the strength of its second round 276, CSUN (581) moved up from sixth into second, just three shots behind Nebraska (578).
 Individually, three Matadors are in the top 10 after two rounds. Seniors Gracie Piar and Kim Turgut each shot a career-best 6-under 65 on Monday to move into a tie for third at 1-over 143.  Nicole Tanoue is the third CSUN player in the top 10, sitting sixth at 2-over 144.

- Piar had one eagle and six birdies in round two to move up from 40th into a tie for third at 1-over 143. Piar was 2-under after a bogey at No. 13, before finishing the day birdie-birdie-eagle to post her career-best 6-under 65.
- Turgut followed suit, carding a 6-under 65 on Monday after a 7-over 78 on Sunday. Turgut fired six birdies and one eagle in round two, to also finish the day at 1-over 143. Turgut made the turn at 2-under before a bogey at No. 10 dropped her to 1-under. But she would finish 5-under over her final eight holes, including an eagle 3 at No. 18 to also tie for third.
- Tanoue, who was CSUN's low player after one round, had an eagle and two birdies on Monday to finish at even-par 71. Tanoue heads into the final round in sixth place at 2-over 144.
- Sophomore Ariya Soldwisch carded two birdies and one eagle in round two to finish at 4-over 75. At 15-over 157, Soldwisch is tied for 60th.
- Meghan Paracuelles, who was tied for 21st at 7-over 76, posted an 11-over 82Â to slip into a tie for 65th at 16-over 158.
- Lily McGowan, competing as an individual, followed up a 9-over 80 on Sunday with a 4-over 75Â on Monday to tie for 46th at 13-over 155.
