Final Round 303 Leaves CSUN 13th at Fresno State Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - After posting team rounds of 302-306 on Monday, the CSUN Women's Golf team carded a final round 303 Tuesday but could not move up from 13th place at the conclusion of the Fresno State Classic at Copper River Country Club.
In their final tune-up before the Big West Championship (Apr. 15-17), the Matadors finished at 911, just 10 shots out of the top 10 in the 14-team field. Senior Kayla Yn was CSUN's low scorer for the fourth time in eight tournaments this season. Yn, who posted identical rounds of 75 on Monday, finished in a tie for 37th at 11-over 227 following a final round 77.
Fellow senior Michelle Duan, who was 25th after rounds of 73-75 on Monday, carded a final round 80 to slip into a tie for 42nd at 12-over 228. Freshman Kiran Sangha, who tied with teammate Ashley Phelps for CSUN's low final round, had three birdies on her way to a three-over 75 to tie for 50th at 14-over 230. Phelps followed up Monday rounds of 80-77 with a 75 on Tuesday to move up 10 spots into a tie for 55th at 16-over 232. Brianna Steger rounded out the Matador lineup as she posted her best round of the tournament with a final round 76 to tie for 60th at 18-over 234.
Araceli Esquivel, competing in her first tournament as a Matador, tied for 65th at 20-over 236 (78-79-79) while competing as an individual.Â
UC Davis (856) led from start to finish to capture the team title while the Aggies' Christine Danielsson took home individual medalist honors with a three-round score of seven-under 209.
CSUN will host the Big West Championship at Moorpark Country Club beginning Monday, Apr. 15.
