CSUN Tennis Hosts Westmont In Home Opener Saturday

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN opens the dual portion of the women's tennis schedule Saturday against Westmont. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
The Warriors will play UC Irvine at 10 a.m. on the Matador Courts before taking on CSUN. Westmont enters the Spring ranked 14th in the preseason NAIA Top 25 poll. Freshman Erin Wilson won the ITA West Regional during the Fall schedule. She advanced to the ITA Cup where she lost in the first round of the tournament. The Matadors are playing Westmont for the 16th time with CSUN leading the all-time series 15-0.
A dual scheduled against Marymount (Calif.) for Saturday has been postponed and will be made up later this season.
SUN's Jolene Coetzee and Ana Isabel Fraile Toboso were named the winners in doubles at the Beach Winter Invitational last weekend. The Matador duo won all three matches in which they played. Coetzee and Fraile Toboso defeated Long Beach State's Natalia Munoz and Zara Lennon 6-3 on day one. Coetzee and Fraile Toboso handed Jelena Lukic and Anna Oberg of Portland a 6-2 defeat on day two. Coetzee and Fraile Toboso defeated Jacinta Milenkoski and Alli Valk of Portland State 6-1 on Sunday.
Coetzee, Fraile Toboso, and Ekaterina Repina each went 2-1 for the Matadors playing in what would be considered the No. 1 flight during the tournament. Natalia Munoz of Long Beach State was declared the singles' winner.
