COTO DE CAZA, Calif. - Freshman Mats Ege is in the top-20 with three holes remaining after the second round of the Orange Co. Collegiate Classic was suspended by darkness Monday on the Coto de Caza South Course.
Ege, who finished the opening round at two-over 74, is also two-over after 16 holes in round two. Junior Blake Brothers is just outside the top-20 after carding a first round (+4) 76 before sitting at one-over with four holes remaining in round two.
Playing their fourth round of golf in a five-day stretch, the Matadors finished round one at 310 and currently sit 10th in the 17-team field. San Francisco carded a team round of 291 Monday morning and led by eight shots heading into the second round.
CSUN SCORES
"It was a frustrating day, but we can still pick up or shot or two if we can finish the second round in good shape. Hopefully then we can put together a solid final round and move past a few teams."
Teams will finish the remaining holes in round two beginning at 8:30 a.m. before immediately playing the final round.
