COTO DE CAZA, Calif. - Freshman Mats Ege finished tied for 40th to lead the CSUN men's golf team as the Orange Co. Collegiate Classic concluded Tuesday Coto de Caza South Course.
Ege, who was tied for 20th after the opening round, finished up his second round Tuesday morning before playing the final round. After posting rounds of 74-75, Ege was several CSUN players to struggle in Tuesday's conditions, posting a final round 81 to finish tied for 40th at (+14) 230.
Competing a stretch of six rounds of golf in six days, the Matadors finished with team scores of 310-299-324 to finish at (+69) 933. Host Cal State Fullerton (876) and San Francisco (876) shared the team championship while the Titans' Derek Castillo earned Individual Medalist honors at (-8) 208.
CSUN SCORES
"It was simply a day forget for us. The conditions were challenging but when you add poor play on top of that, you're going to struggle. When we face challenging conditions like this again, we will definitely be better suited to handle it."Â
CSUN will have 10 days off before heading to Palm Desert to compete in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at The Classic Club (Feb. 21-23).
