CSUN Hits The Road For A Pair Of Games This Week

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.— CSUN (9-15, 4-6 Big West) hits the road for a pair of women's basketball games this week.

The Matadors compete in the second of back-to-back games against UC Santa Barbara at UCSB on Thursday at 7 p.m. UCSB defeated CSUN 65-55 last Saturday night to improve to 10-14, 5-6 in Big West play.

Ila Lane leads the nation in total rebounds (315), and ranks second in rebounds per game (13.1) and is eighth in double-doubles (15). In addition to her rebounding efforts, she leads the conference in field goal percentage (57.6) and is fifth in scoring (14.6). This is the 67th meeting between CSUN and UC Santa Barbara with the Gauchos leading the all-time series 46-20.

CSUN will then travel to Cal State Fullerton on Saturday for a 6 p.m. start. The Titans begin the week with a 13-10 overall record, and a 4-5 mark in Big West play. The Titans face UC Davis Thursday morning before hosting CSUN.

Raina Perez leads the Big West in scoring at 20.3 points per game. Her average is the ninth-best in Division I this week. The Matadors defeated Cal State Fullerton for the 18th consecutive time Jan. 16 when the Matadors edged the Titans 63-57 in overtime in Northridge. CSUN leads the all-time series 28-27. Deja Williams scored 32 points in the 70-66 loss at Hawai'i Feb. 13, 2020. Williams' 32 points are the most by a CSUN player since Channon Fluker since Jan. 25, 2018 when she posted 34, also at Hawai'i. It is only the 20th time a Matador has scored at least 30 points in a game since CSUN went Division I in 1990.
