
Sangha, Steger Tie for 41st, CSUN Finishes 12th at Bruin Wave Invitational

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Sophomore Kiran Sangha and senior Brianna Steger tied for 41st while the CSUN women's golf team finished in 12th-place as the Bruin Wave Invitational concluded Tuesday at San Luis Obispo Country Club.
Sangha and Steger both finished with a tournament score of 19-over 235 as Sangha's final round 79 led the squad. Steger posted a final round 82.
The Matadors finished with team rounds of 319-318-325 on the challenging San Luis Obispo C.C. course. USC won the team title with a score of (+14) 878, two strokes better than second-place UCLA (880). Kelly Sim of Northwestern, the leader after 36 holes, earned co-medalist honors with Emma Spitz of UCLA as each finished at five-under 211.Â

CSUNÂ SCORES
- Sangha, who posted rounds of 76-80 on Monday, had one birdie and 10 pars in the final round. She made a birdie-four on her third-to-last hole of the day to get to seven-over 79 for the round and 19-over for the tournament.
- Steger was CSUN's low scorer after 36 holes (+9, 153) but wasn't able to get under-par in the final round. She had nine pars but slipped from 29th into a tie for 41st following a final round (+10) 82.
- Grace Bettis opened with rounds of 82-79 on Monday before finishing with a second round of 82 on Tuesday. Bettis was 11-over before posting a birdie on her final hole to get to (+10) 82. Â
- Also for the Matadors, Ashley Phelps finished 59th at (+33) 249 following rounds of 84-83-82 and Araceli Esquivel rounded out the CSUN scoring as she placed 61st at (+56) 272 following scores of 88-94-90.
