IRVINE, Calif.---CSUN Women's Soccer (1-3) surrendered a golden goal in the 102nd minute to UC Irvine, giving the Anteaters a 2-1 victory in a non-conference game on Sunday evening. Sophie Yanez scored her first career goal in the 10th minute of play. Yanez, Sydney Gilbert and Ashly Torres each had two shots apiece for CSUN to lead the team. In net, Elizabeth Bornhauser made her first career start and totaled six saves.

FIRST HALF
Yanez would get the Matador offense started on the right foot in the early minutes of the first half. After a pair of UCI fouls, the Anteaters committed a turnover on the right wing above the box. Yanez would gather the ball at the 18-yard line and quickly deposit a shot at the net. The shot traveled inside the far post and into the netting, giving the Matadors a 1-0 lead with under 10 minutes played.
Following the CSUN goal, UCI went on the attack as Laila El Behery has a shot blocked in the 11th minute before the Anteaters committed an offside moments later. The Matadors would put a pair of shots on frame beginning in the 19th minute when Gilbert had her shot saved by Taesja Paopao. The UCI goalkeeper made another timely stop in the 22nd minute off a shot from Alexis White. The Matadors kept the Anteaters at bay until the final moments of the second half as the Anteaters finally found the equalizer. A turnover in the UCI attacking third led to Autumn Thompkins finding Scarlett Camberos for the tying goal in the 44th minute.
SECOND HALF
After CSUN posted a 6-5 edge in shots in the first half, UCI would register eight of the nine shots recorded over the final 45 minutes of regulation. CSUN's defense would hold firm despite a barrage of shot attempts from the Anteaters in the opening minutes of the period. The Matador defense blocked away a shot from Alyssa Moore then Bornhauser snarred a shot attempt from Lilli Rask. Bornhauser would make another save in the 52nd minute, this time stopping an attempt from Camberos.
Torres recorded the Matadors lone shot of the half in the 71st minute but her strike went wide. CSUN turned away corner kicks from UCI in the 75th and 84th minute, helping to keep the score tied. Rask would deliver the last attempt of regulation as the final seconds ticked off the clock before Bornhauser made her sixth save of the match.
