CSUN Cross Country Travels to NCAA West Regional

WHAT'S COMING UP FOR CSUN CROSS COUNTRY
CSUN heads to the NCAA Division I West Regional on Friday. The competition will be held at the Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash. and will be hosted by the University of Washington.

The women's 6k race begins at 10 a.m. with the men's 10k race getting underway at 11 a.m. Scheduled to compete are Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, California, California Baptist, CSUN, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Hawai'i, Idaho, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Oregon, Oregon State, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, Portland State, Sacramento State, San Diego, San Diego State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle University, Saint Mary's, Stanford, UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, UNLV, Washington, and Washington State. Entered to run for CSUN in the women's race are;
THE LAST TIME OUT
The CSUN men's cross country team finished eighth while the Matadors' women's squad placed ninth at the Big West Championships on Oct. 29 on the UC Riverside Ag Ops Course.

Torres was the first CSUN men's runner to cross the finish line. He ran 24:54.4 to earn 28th-place points and a 29th-place overall finish. Jake Ritter of Cal Poly was the medalist (23:27.4). The Matadors finished with 217 points. Cal Poly (22) was the team winner.

Contreras was the top CSUN women's performer, running 22:10.5 to earn 45th-place points (51st overall). Brianna Weidler of UC Davis was the individual champion as she posted a time of 19:28.6. As a team, CSUN scored 253 points. Cal Poly (63) edged UC Irvine by one point to take home team honors.
