Avila competed in all five races ... competed in the 5k and ran a time of 19:21.1 at the Big West Preview, finishing 56th overall (9/1/23) ... set a new personal record in the 6k and posted the 10th best time in school history with 21:59.7 at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational (10/14/23) ... finished 50th overall and third on the team at the Big West Championships with a time of 22:46.2 (10/27/23) ... ran her best time at the NCAA West Regional in her career with a time of 22:17.0 on the 6k course as she finished 191st overall ... earned Big West All-Academic Team honors.
CSUN - 2022 (Junior): Entered all six events ... lowered her 6k best time to 22:17.4 in a 53rd place showing at the BIg West Championship ... charted a season-best finish of eighth at the Pepperdine Waves Invitational (24:07.5) ... posted a time of 22:39.6 at the NCAA West Regional ... ran a 4k time of 16:35.7 at the Anteater Open to begin the year.
CSUN - 2021 (Sophomore): Was the top finishing Matador at The Master's Invitational as she posted a time of 19:51.7 on the 3.11m course ... set 6k season-best of 24:06.9 at the UC Riverside Highlander Invitational ... placed 69th at the Big West Championship (24:42.6) ... ran 25:04.5 at the NCAA West Regional (229th overall) ... opened season by going 24:34.0 at the Stump Invitational ... named Academic All-Conference.
CSUN - 2020 (Freshman)
Did not compete as the Big West canceled Fall sports due to COVID-19.

A 2019 graduate of Hart High School in Newell, Calif. ... coaches were Larry David and Darren James … named team most outstanding cross country runner in each of her four years on the team (2015-19)…selected team track and field MVP in 2017 and 2018 … finished third in the Foothill League cross country finals in 2017 … team took home CIF cross country titles in 2015 and 2016 … ran prep-bests of 2:34.18 in the 800m, 5:33.00 in the 1600m, 12:10.65 in the 3200m, and 19:16.5 in the three mile run.

Daughter of Marcial and Monica Avila … a Biology major … favorites include the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Lakers … Emma Coburn, Scarlett Johansson, WandaVision, Avengers Age of Ultron, Cheeseburgers, fries, strawberries, Coldplay, James Arthur, and YouTube … chose CSUN for its diversity, which she says allows her to be herself … also chose the school because both of her older sisters attended CSUN and it is close to home … says her greatest sports moment so far is qualifying for the CIF Finals with her high school team, which marked the first time in school history that Hart High School accomplished the feat … says the best thing about being an athlete is it allows her to challenge herself in order to accomplish goals and teach lessons … it also helps her reduce stress and pressure in her life … says her parents are her greatest heroes because according to her, they have sacrificed so much to make sure our family is happy and safe … says they work their tails off to give us everything that we need and always support us no matter what … says she wouldn't be the person she is today if it weren't for them as they are her world.
