LA QUINTA, Calif. - The CSUN Men's Golf team fired a blistering team round of three-under par 285 on Monday to move up three spots into third place after two rounds of the Big West Men's Golf Championship at La Quinta Country Club.
CSUN was sixth after Monday's opening-round 297 but carded the second-best round of the tournament Tuesday to move into the top-three. At six-over 582 for the championship, the Matadors head into the final round just three shots behind second-place Long Beach State (579). UC Davis (566) will have a 13-stroke lead when the final round gets underway on Tuesday morning.

In tying for the second-lowest round of the championship as well as posting his career low round at the conference championship, Gachet fired three birdies and 13 pars in addition to an eagle three at the par-5 11th. He made the turn at even-par before finishing the back nine at four-under.

OTHER CSUNÂ SCORES
COACH JIM BRACKEN SAID
"We played better today and made a few more putts than we did yesterday. We took advantage of some of the par 5's and being able to do that we didn't leave as many shots out there. Paul-Louis played really steady golf. He didn't get off to a great start but hung in there are really grinded out his round. I'm happy to see him in contention heading into the final round. We haven't made a ton of birdies as a team but I'm expecting some good scores in tomorrow's final round and get all five guys in the red."
The Matadors will be paired with UC Davis and Long Beach State for the final round two which gets underway Tuesday morning beginning at 8:50 a.m.
