Turgut in Top-20, CSUN Ninth at Hobble Creek Classic

SPRINGVILLE, Utah - Kim Turgut fired rounds of 78-73 in her Matador debut to lead CSUN through 36 holes of the Hobble Creek Classic Monday at Springville Golf Course.
As a team, the Matadors opened with a round of 311 before shaving 10 strokes off that total with a 3-1 in Monday's second round. At 44-over 612, CSUN currently sits ninth in in the 18-team field heading into Tuesday's final round.
Turgut opened Monday with a 7-over 78 which included three birdies, all coming over her final nine holes of round one. She then posted a single birdie and 14 pars in round two as she moved up from 37th into 20th place with a 2-over 73. Turgut heads into the final round at 9-over 151 for the tournament which is just three shots out of the top-10.

CSUNÂ SCORES
- Also for the Matadors, Fernanda Sosa Stackpole and Grace Bettis are tied for 40th at 13-over 155. Sosa Stackpole opened with a 9-over 80 before firing four birdies in posting a 4-over 75 in round two. Bettis had four pars on the day - three coming in round one - as she posted rounds of 77-78 and is tied for 40th at 13-over 155.
- Freshman Gracie Piar had three birdies in an opening round 5-over 76 before finishing round two at 13-over 84. Piar is currently tied for 70th at 18-over 160.
- Julia Myklebust is one shot behind Piar in a tie for 76th at 19-over 161 following rounds of 86-75.
- Elle Laur is also competing for CSUN as an individual and is tied for 65th after two rounds at 21-over 163 (79-84).
