CSUN Cross Country Travels to UC RIverside Saturday

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN men's and women's cross country teams return to action Saturday at the UC Riverside Invitational. The women's 6k invitational is set to go off at 7:15 a.m. with the men's 8k invitational scheduled for 7:50 a.m.
Running on the same Ag Ops Course that will be used for The Big West Championships, all the Big West schools are scheduled to compete except for CSU Bakersfield and Cal State Fullerton. Joining the Big West competition are Arizona State, California, California Baptist, Grand Canyon, Pacific, Pepperdine, Saint Mary's, Southern Utah, USC, and Utah Tech.

THE LAST TIME OUT
The CSUN men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2022 season on Sept. 1 at the Anteater Opener, hosted by UC Irvine.
MEN
Daniel Rodriguez turned in CSUN's top finish, 19th on the 6k course. He ran 19:44.2 to earn 18th place points. UC Irvine's Lukas Amare was the individual winner (18:26.0). California Baptist (27) was the team winner as the Matadors finished fourth (115).
WOMEN
Nicole Contreras was the top finishing Matador in the 4k race. She received 29th place points (41st overall) in a time of 16:17.6. Her performance is the eighth fastest 4k time by a CSUN runner since 2000. California Baptist's Emilia Mikszuta won the individual race (13:59.2) while the Lances took home the team honors (24). As a team, the Matadors were fifth (155).
