NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Behind Magdalena Juric's team-high eight kills and an efficient team hitting effort, the CSUN women's volleyball team swept CSU Bakersfield in its 2022 home opener Friday night at Premier America Credit Union Arena.
Juric put down her team-high eight kills on 18 errorless attacks to hit .444 which led all CSUN hitters. As a team, the Matadors (6-9, 1-2) hit .291 with 30 kills and a season-low seven hitting errors on 79 swings in posting the 25-14, 25-19, 25-14 win.

COACH JOHN PRICE SAID
"We've been working really hard in practice at reducing our attacking errors. We've also been preaching serving and defense and both of those were the difference tonight. This year in conference I feel we have to play well to have a chance to win, and we played well tonight. Bakersfield is capable of being better than they were tonight, but I thought we played well."
SET 1
Neither team gained more than a two-point edge until the Matadors overcame a 14-13 Bakersfield lead. After a Roadrunner service error tied the score, Cederlind stepped to the service line and would serve 11 straight points which included four of her five aces. Leading 24-14, a Juric tip found the floor on set point sending the Matadors to the 25-14 win.
SET 2
After hitting .148 in the opening set, CSUN improved to .259 in the second set and would lead throughout. A CSUB hitting error opened up an early 6-3 Matador lead before the visitors would rally to within 7-6. But another Juric kill fueled a 4-0 CSUN run that opened up an 11-6 advantage. A Palm kill kept the Roadrunners within two at 13-11 before a Taylor Hunter kill propelled CSUN on a decisive 5-2 run that put the Matadors in front 18-13. Barron and Hunter then teamed up to stuff a CSUB attack on set point giving CSUN the 25-19 win.
SET 3
With the score tied a 6-6, a kill by Nevarez was followed by two straight hitting errors by the visitors as CSUN opened up a 9-6 cushion. The Matadors, who hit .480 in the frame, would lead by five at 12-7 on another Nevarez kill and would lead by as many as eight at 19-11 before closing out the 25-14 victory.
