The Matadors outscored the Aggies 48-40 in the second half. UC Davis shot 50.9% from the field (28-of-55). The Aggies were 14-of-25 (53.8%) from beyond the three-point arc. CSUN made nine steals, resulting in 15 points, and forced 12 turnovers. UC Davis outrebounded the Matadors 34-33, but CSUN held a 10-8 offensive rebound advantage.
ACCORDING TO HEAD COACH CARLENE MITCHELL
"We knew that was their system, and they could make a bunch of threes. They shot extremely well; I think they were above 60 percent at halftime (from three-point range). Some of them were tough shots, but some of them were miscommunication on the defensive end."
"We were without our leading scorer (Tess Amundsen), so we got scoring from a combination of different people who could get some additional minutes. Macy hit some big shots. Laney gave us some rebounding. It was good to see De'Jah give us a good presence on the offensive end of the floor. I give our team credit. They continued to fight and gave us a chance to win in the fourth quarter."
