CSUN WOMEN PERFORMANCES

ACCORDING TO COACH DEVIN ELIZONDO
"Both teams improved in our conference points from last year, but other teams in conference are improving too!
For the CSUN men, we have consistently put an athlete in the top-30 [with Atticus Hall finishing 26th] and overall we lowered our total from 213 points [in 2022] to 208, leaving the goal of breaking 200 points still on the table. Camilo Torres had a great bounce back race, which helped true freshman Yaseen Sardar have an impact in our scoring lineup. Our top four runners are all underclassmen. It would have taken an amazing effort to challenge for the two team spots ahead of us, but we are starting to close the gap with the in-house talent and new recruiting class.
The CSUN women followed the trend of improving at The Big West Championships. In her second race of the season, Unique led a charge that would ultimately have her finish 29th, a solid performance in her conference championship debut. The women ran a strong team race and significantly closed the gaps on our competition. Although we finished ninth again, a year ago we were 90 points out of seventh and 32 points away from eighth. Today, we put ourselves squarely in the fight. I'm proud of this effort that resulted in finishing 25 points from UCSB [in seventh] with Hawai'i just three points ahead. If we pass 12 more runners, we fight with all the team in the mid-pack."
