GAME 1
The Matadors defeated the Lancers 6-3 in the final game of pool play. CSUN jumped to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first Kaylee Escutia, and Jordan Kaeka recorded RBI. Then, taking advantage of a Matadors' error in the bottom of the first, Maya Martinez's sac fly scored Priscilla Estrada to get CBU on the board.
CSUN posted a three-run rally in the top of the third. With two outs, Mia Cortez's two-RBI single drove in Mikayla Carman and Kennedy Gustin. Sydney Freijanes added an RBI single later in the inning.
Matadors' freshman pitcher Riley Wickum carried a no-hitter into the bottom of the fifth before Karmyna Becerra singled to begin the inning. Mackenzie San Pedro walked. Molly Kolander grounded out, which allowed both runners to move up a base. Becerra was retired on a fielder's choice for the second out. Allie Gardiner relieved Wickum and retired pinch-hitter Deja Westbrook for the final out. Gizella Vargas Sandoval added an RBI in the top of the seventh for the final 6-3 score.
Escutia went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI to pace the Matadors. Carman scored three times. The CSUN pitchers combined on a three-hitter, with Wickum earning the win and Gardiner recording the save.
GAME 2
CSUN clinched the top seed before Saturday's play and matched up again with California Baptist in the semifinals. Samantha Demyon's three-run home run in the top of the sixth proved to be the difference as CBU defeated the Matadors 3-0.
