CSUN opens a season-long five-dual home stand this week with three contests. The week begins on Monday when the Matadors host Boston University at 2 p.m. Play continues Thursday when Youngstown State comes to Northridge at 2 p.m. Action concludes Sunday when CSUN returns to conference play against UC Irvine at 11 a.m.

At 7-2, the Terriers open a week-long stay in California at CSUN. Boston University plays Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton while in the Golden State.

Three BU players, Victoria Carlsten, Shelly Yaloz, and Navya Vadlamudi, have won 13 singles matches this season. Two other Terriers, Michelle Kleynerman (12) and Kaitlin Tan (11), have double-digit singles wins for Boston University. Carlsten and Vadlamudi are the leading doubles team at 8-3 for the Terriers.

Monday is the first time that CSUN and Boston University are playing a women's tennis dual.

ABOUT YOUNGSTOWN STATE
Like Boston University, Youngstown State is playing three duals this week against CSUN, Long Beach State, and Cal State Fullerton. The Penguins are 2-6 before opening the week in Long Beach on Wednesday.

Cecila Rosas has posted a team-high 12 singles wins (12-9) as the action begins this week. Playing with three different partners, Julia Marko has won this season eight times in doubles, a club-best.

CSUN defeated Youngstown State 4-3 last season in Northridge to improve to 4-0 in the all-time series against the Penguins.

ABOUT UCI
The Anteaters are 3-2, 0-1 in Big West play before a Saturday dual against Utah State.

Asha Gidwani and Amanda Perez have gotten off to 4-1 singles starts for the Anteaters. The Fowler sisters, Carolyna and Emily, are 4-1 at No. 3 doubles which is a team-best.

The Matadors won their fourth in a row in the series against UC Irvine 4-3 last season in Irvine. UCI leads the all-time series 29-9.

LAST WEEK
Weather altered CSUN's schedule last week. The Matadors' dual at UC San Diego scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 26, was postponed due to rain. The teams will now play on Sunday, Apr. 16, at UCSD. The first serve remains at noon.

CSUN moved the dual against UC Riverside from Sunday, Mar. 5, to Feb. 26. The Matadors improved to 42-1 all-time against the Highlanders as CSUN defeated UCR 7-0.Â

CSUN improved to 2-0 in Big West women's tennis play Sunday afternoon as the Matadors (5-2) shutout UC Riverside (2-6, 0-2 BW) 7-0 at the SRC Tennis Courts.

The teams played singles first due to the iffy weather forecast. Yuliia Zhytelna earned the opening CSUN victory at No. 3 singles with a straight sets decision, 6-1, 6-2 against Brionna Nguyen.

Sasha Turchak followed with her 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2 versus Maya Youssef. Next, Angela Ho handed Sofia Lazzaroni a 6-4, 6-0 defeat in the No. 4 slot. Finally, Jolene Coetzee clinched the dual victory at No. 1. She defeated Kamya Nair 6-0 in the first set at No. 1 before taking a tiebreaker 7-3 in the second to sweep the match.

Vitoria Solis Urdiales had to go to three sets in No. 5 play against Niki Shahbazi. Shahbazi defeated Solis Urdiales 6-3 in the first set before coming back to take set two 6-0 and clinching the match with a 6-4 victory in the third set. Finally, Emma Moratalla Sanz wrapped up singles by winning 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 6 versus Sydney Tran.

Turchak and Zhytelna began doubles by defeating Nair and Serina Saltzen 6-1. Coetzee and Ho followed with a 6-4 victory at No. 1 against Nguyen and Shahbazi. The dual closed with Cindy Ung and Solis Urdiales winning at No. 3 6-3 versus Lazzaroni and Youssef.
