The Toreros opened 2023 with a 2-1 victory at Seattle University last Thursday before upsetting No. 6 Washington 2-0 on Sunday.

As a result of the victories, USD is ranked 12th in the College Soccer News Top 30, 15th in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25, and 25th in this week's Top Drawer Soccer Top 25 poll.

Oliver Rhoades scored a goal and had an assist against the Huskies. San Diego has three players who have scored a goal and recorded an assist this season, including Mason Turnbridge, who was ranked (#60) in Top Drawer Soccer's preseason Top 100 Division I Players poll.

Luis Ludosan has made eight saves in a pair of starts in goal for USD this season.

After playing exhibitions against one another for the past two seasons, San Diego and CSUN are playing a varsity match for the 30th time. USD leads the all-time series 17-11-1.

The Bruins split a pair of matches at the season-opening James Madison Fairfield by Marriott Invitational. UCLA defeated Virginia Tech 4-1 last Thursday before dropping a 1-0 decision to the host, James Madison, on Sunday.

Jack Sarkos scored twice during the tournament, while Sam Joseph made nine saves in goal for the Bruins.

UCLA received votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 and the College Soccer News Top 30. Tommy Silva (#6), Ryan Becher (#41), and Tucker Lepley (#54) were named as one of the top 100 players in Division I by Top Drawer Soccer in the preseason.

Monday is the 26th time CSUN and UCLA are playing men's soccer, with the Bruins leading the all-time series 19-3-3.

LAST WEEK
CSUN played to a pair of ties to open the season last week at Ohio State's Wolstein Classic. The Matadors began the season with a 1-1 tie against the host Buckeyes before playing a 2-2 tie against Dayton. Levin Gerhardt, Jamar Ricketts, and Robert Kaemmerer were named to the All-Tournament team.
