Barnes Posts First Top-20 Finish, CSUN Ties for 12th at Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. - Freshman Bryson Barnes posted his first career top-20 finish on Wednesday as the CSUN men's golf team finished in a tie for 12th at the conclusion of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational at the Stockton Country Club.

CSUN SCORES

After posting 10 birdies over the first two rounds, Barnes added four birdies in the final round to finish the day at 1-over 72. At 4-under 209, Barnes finished with his best three-round total of the season which tied for 16th in the 92-player field.
Sophomore Liam Judkins had one eagle and one birdie in the final round but dropped from 21st into a tie for 39th at 2-over 215.
Domenic De Luca also had a pair of birdies on Wednesday, finishing with a second straight round of 2-over round of 73. De Luca wound up in a tie for 57th at 5-over 218.
Nick Fry tied for 65th at 6-over 219 following rounds of 74-72-73 and freshman Tavin Boman rounded out the CSUN scoring, tying for 91st at 16-over 229 (75-77-77).
CSUN also has two individuals competing, Dillon Jonke fired an even-par 71 on Wednesday to finish in a tie for 57th at 5-over 218 (72-75-71) and Yuo Torii tied for 87th at 14-over 227 (78-74-75).

HEAD COACH JIM BRACKEN SAID
"Bryson had his first top-20 finish and Dillon had a good final round which were positives today. As a team, we got off to a poor start and never really recovered. We're a young team but that's no excuse. We're not making enough birdies right now to overcome some of the mistakes we're making. We've got to learn to play with some pressure and that will come with time."
