CSUN Remains Unbeaten After Picking Up Road Win Over USF

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - CSUN Women's Tennis improved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-1 victory over San Francisco on Friday afternoon at the Degheri Tennis Center.
After defeating UC Riverside in their home opener on Thursday, the Matadors defeated the Dons in their first road match of the season.
CSUN dominated the doubles competition to open the day as CSUN's Victoria Santibañez Luna and Cindy Ung defeated Qianer Qit and Julia Visaya by the score of 6-1. Angela Ho and Elena Goodman then made quick work of the Dons' Katerina Filip and Azaria Hayes by the same 6-1 final. Sasha Turchak and Yuliia Zhytelna held a 5-3 lead over Erin Richardson and Hana Gamracy when the point was clinched.
In singles play, CSUN won five of the six matches as Santibañez Luna picked up the Matadors' first win in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) over Hayes at No. 3. Emma Moratalla Sanz then made its two singles wins for CSUN with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Alicia Yue at No. 4. Nicole West picked up another Matadors win, 6-2, 7-6 over Richardson at No. 5 before Turchak also won in straight sets, defeating Filip, 6-3, 7-6 at No. 1. The Dons would pick up a win in the No. 6 singles match as Visaya held off Tallia Harper, 6-3, 3-6, 10-6.
"Today was a real test coming off of our first match of the season the day prior and coming straight from the airport," said West, who made her CSUN debut against UCR on Thursday. "Really proud of how we showed up across the board today."
